PSSI & Nextologies Partner for Live TV Production of Historic SpaceX Launch Show: Space Launch Live: America Returns to Space

Technology Allows Production Team in Burbank to Direct Live Show

On Wednesday (May 27) at 4:33 p.m. EDT (20:33 GMT) SpaceX's Dragon spacecraft with NASA astronauts Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley on board will launch from NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

The live show Space Launch Live: America Returns to Space will start at 11 a.m. PT/2 p.m on the Discovery Channel and online at the SpaceX website. The talent lined up for the show includes Katy Perry, Mythbusters' Adam Savage, former astronaut Mike Massimino and NASA engineer-turned-YouTuber Mark Rober, who will be appearing remotely from their homes.

PSSI's CK35 mobile teleports are being staged at the production studio in Burbank and will be ingesting over 30 discrete feeds via satellite, fiber and IP for remote production and re-distribution of the show around the world.

The Nextologies' NXT-4 and NXT-LITE technology and gear has been deployed to the show producers in Burbank and talent at their homes. Once the video feeds are received from PSSI, the production company does their magic, and then Nextologies can hand off the video to the producers and talent at their respective locations. The producers can then utilize the NXT-4 gear to remotely control "robo-control" the cameras.

Nextologies CEO Sasha Zivanovic stated, "COVID-19 puts a new spin on the way live television is being produced due to social distancing and precautionary measures, and we are thrilled that PSSI trusted our team again for such an historic and important mission."
